What is an ALO

Apply to become an Illinois ALO:

  1. Your name will be added to the waiting list based on the day of your official request.  We’ll contact you when you become eligible to join the unit to confirm your interest.  At that point we’ll mail you an application checklist and schedule an interview.

  2. Application requirements are outlined on the ALO application checklist and may include a personnel RIP, copies of last 3 OPRs, AF Form 1288, AF Form 2096, USAFA Form 0-317, Letter of interest, and a personal interview.  Please follow the provided checklist.

  3. Application approval, once submitted, takes up to 60 days for additional duty, and up to 5 months for primary duty.  It is your responsibility to monitor your participation throughout the process to insure you have a good year.

Understand that you may apply as a primary duty ALO, additional duty ALO, or civilian/retired ALO.  Primary duty ALO positions are very limited.  Priority will be given to those who are already trained and performing as additional duty ALOs.

To apply or for more information, please send your resume to the Illinois LOD, LtCol Rich Jenkins by clicking here.
